Q: could your wedding be impacted by covid?
A: It already did! For the safety of our guests, as well as to ensure that we can gather to celebrate in a care-free manner (no mask, no social distancing, just lots of hugs and dancing shoulder to shoulder!), we have decided to postpone our wedding from June 26th, 2021 to July 27th, 2022. However, location and venue remains unchanged, just a new date!
Q: when should i make accomodation arrangements?
A: ASAP! There are only a limited number of hotels and inns on the island, and we strongly recommend that you make your lodging plans sooner rather than later. The summer season can get extremely busy, given that San Juan Island is popular among local Washingtonians as a getaway destination! Please check the “When & Where” page for recommended lodging options. You can also consider private property rentals and rent out gorgeous vacation homes to share among other wedding attendees.
Q: when should i get there?
A: We recommend that all guests arrive on or before Tuesday July 26th, 2021. First of all, we want to get to see you and hang out for as long as possible, so we hope that you will join us at the Welcome Party. More importantly, ferries do get delayed due to weather and/or traffic condition, and if anything happens to that morning ferry ride you intend to count on on the actual day of our wedding, we might just not get to celebrate with you at all! Meanwhile, check out the “What” page for all the activities that you can do while on the island!
Q: What is the best way to get THERE?
A: We have provided travel details on the “When & Where” page. Just make sure to check ferry schedules and purchase tickets in advance if you’ll be driving onto the ferry. They book up extremely quickly, especially in the summer. Note that reservations are released in waves, so don’t worry if you can’t find any available reservations online at this time. You’ll have chance to book them exactly 2 weeks (or 2 days) prior to specific sail date beginning 7am PST if it comes down to it!
Q: What is your wedding schedule?
A: Please check the “When & Where” page. Details are being worked out as we speak, and we will update with more information as we solidify our plans. As of this moment, you can count on a late afternoon/early evening welcome event the day prior to our wedding . And of course, there’s the ceremony followed by a reception on our wedding day!
Q: What is your wedding hashtag?
A: We are planning on sharing photos on social media to the hashtag #KLx24ever. #KLx2 was born ever since Kiki Li and Kevin Lam started dating, and now under the union of marriage, their love and bond will only last 4ever into the end of time…
Q: How do I RSVP?
A: RSVP will be available closer to our wedding day, around March/April 2022. We’ll update you when it is up on the “RSVP” page.
Q: Can I bring a plus one?
A: We will ensure that all invitees were named, but if there was an oversight, please contact us directly and we can discuss to accommodate any plus one you might want to bring along.
Q: Can I make special food requests?
A: We’ll make sure to include a section on RSVP for food allergies and will work best to accommodate any major food allergies as best possible.
Q: Do you have a registry?
A: Your presence on our special day is the greatest present of all! Only if you insist to celebrate with a gift, which we will warmly appreciate, contribution can be made to one of our funds shown on the “Registry” page. You can contribute however much you wish.
Q: is there a dress code?
A: For the Welcome Party, dress code will be smart casual, and come ready to dazzle! The ceremony & reception will be festive cocktail attire, neutral colors are preferred, and we will provide more dress code information on our official invitation. Meanwhile, make sure you wear comfortable footwear as we will be dancing ALL NIGHT LONG. Oh, and there is also a short walk (approx. 300 yards) to the ceremony site on gravel, but we will have a chauffeur on site to transport those guests in need.
Q: What will the weather be like?
A: July in the San Juan Islands is lovely! Average June temperatures on the island range between low 50Fs (~10C) to mid 70Fs (~20C) .The San Juan Island chain is protected by the ‘Rain Shadow’ effect meaning it generally gets less rain than other parts of the Pacific Northwest all year round. We do recommend that you come prepared with layers to keep you comfortable all night long.
Q: Will I need a car on the island?
A: While driving onto the ferry and onto the island provide the most flexibility, but if you would like to explore the island without a car, the San Juan Island taxi company is very convenient. You can also take the Jolly Trolley, which is extremely adorable, to get to all the scenic spots on the island!
